Robben Island

Former Political Prisoner - Robbin Island  Now leading a tour of the cell block where he was detained for five years because he refused to speak Afrikaans as a university student in the 70's. Above him is the prisoner's quarry, and below him his cell block and the view just out side the guards office of the prison. 

Umlazi Township

Spent the afternoon with some brilliant children in Durban's largest township...

Orphaned by AIDS or abandoned because they're HIV +

45 kids live and attend school in these three rooms

Typical temporary dwelling-- it takes years (and sometimes countless Rand) to get a more permanent shack

Stuck behind Flavor Flav in security line at Heathrow en-route from NYC to South Africa.  Took a while for him to remove every piece of bling and put it in in the bin.  In the end he opted for the wand, so he didn't have to take out his gold caps and send them through the x-ray.  One of the security officials didn't know who he was and asked her colleague why he, "needed both a watch and a clock."
